Plumb earns leadership certification
OLYMPIA - A Ritzville City Councilwoman has been recognized
by the Association of Washington Cities.
Councilwoman Michelle Plumb recently earned an advanced
certificate of municipal leadership after more than 60 hours
training in:
Legal requirements, roles and responsibilities, and ethics
Budgeting and financial management
Infrastructure, transportation and land use
Building safe, healthy and thriving communities
Effective leadership
Those who earn the advanced certificate have continued to strive for excellence by attending conferences and trainings, serving their community and further developing leadership skills, organization CEO Deanna Dawson said.

"Being a city leader in Washington is a complex job," Dawson said.
Plumb was appointed to office in April of 2016 and has been in office for nine years in the 4-year at-large position, serving on a variety of committees.

During her tenure, she helped pursue grant funding for a variety of projects and worked with fellow council members to complete a city-wide wayfinding project.

She said she enjoys walking around the city to see first-hand what's happening.

New benches
The Journal | Jul 22, 2025

City of Ritzville Councilman, and a member of the city's tree board, Dennis Chamberlain, left and tree board member Juan Hernandez, install a tree bench along Washington Street's Pioneer Plaza July 17.
Twelve of the metal benches are due to be installed. A challenge has been getting the pre-configured metal legs to match where the paved area is so the legs can be screwed down.. Adding additional concrete patches has been the solution.
